The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has nominated three individuals and three organisations for the National Environment Award 2024 in recognition of their significant contributions to environmental conservation, pollution control, environmental education, and innovation in environmental research and technology.
The nominations were finalised during a recent meeting of the national committee formed to oversee the award process, the ministry announced in a press release today (4 June).
In the category of Environmental Conservation and Pollution Control, Md Mahmudul Islam from Aziznagar village in Tetulia upazila, Panchagarh, has been selected for the award. In the institutional category, the nominee is Snowtex Outerwear Ltd from Dhamrai, Dhaka.
For contributions to Environmental Education and Awareness, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury from CDA Residential Area, Chattogram, has been selected in the individual category.
In the same category, the environmental organisation ‘Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust’ has been chosen at the institutional level.
In the category of Environmental Research and Technological Innovation, Professor Dr M Firoz Ahmed has been nominated as the individual recipient.
The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has been selected at the institutional level.
At the National Environment Day ceremony, all winners will be honored with an award package that includes a crest, a certificate of recognition, a cheque for Tk50,000, and the cash equivalent of 2 tolas (approximately 23.33g) of 22-carat gold, calculated at current market value.
