BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will take part in the party’s election campaign if her health condition allows, said the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (19 October).

“To ensure Begum Zia’s security, bulletproof vehicle is being procured. If she remains in good health, she will participate in the election campaign,” Rizvi told journalists at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan.

The BNP leader alleged that India does not want political stability in Bangladesh.

“Certain quarters are actively trying to destabilise the country, and India has, at different times, either directly or indirectly aided those efforts,” Rizvi said.

He claimed that India’s actions have never demonstrated any genuine interest in seeing a stable government in Bangladesh. “They have always stood by illegitimate governments like Sheikh Hasina’s,” he added.

Expressing concern over the government’s plan to hold the next national election by February, Rizvi warned that attempts are underway to create unrest ahead the polls.

“The government’s decision to hold elections by February is now facing efforts to derail it. The recent spate of fire incidents across the country, are these mere accidents, or part of a deliberate conspiracy, these incidents must be investigated,” he said.

Referring to the recent wave of fires in different parts of the country, Rizvi noted that the nation is deeply anxious. “These incidents are not just coincidences. They are raising serious concerns among the public,” he said.
