India had guaranteed fallen dictator and fascist Sheikh Hasina to keep her in power to control Bangladesh for its own purposes, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said today (11 September).
“Therefore, Sheikh Hasina wanted to stay in power through bloodshed,” he said while visiting the residence of martyred journalist Abu Taher Mohammad Turab in Sylhet city.
Under the initiative of “Amra BNP Paribar”, Rizvi went to meet Shaheed Turab’s family and spent some time with his mother.
He assured Turab’s mother that all necessary cooperation will be provided to ensure fair trial of Turab’s murder.
Noting that India had kept Sheikh Hasina in power for its own interests, Rizvi said, “India is trying to keep Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty under its control.”
India guaranteed Sheikh Hasina to keep her in power because it wanted to keep her under control, he said, adding that as a part of that, India has given Sheikh Hasina shelter.
Referring to the recent killing of Bangladeshi citizens on the border, he said, BSF shot dead Jayanta Kumar on the Thakurgaon border and Swarna Das on the Moulvibazar border.
India described it as a communal attack when a “Sanatan religion” follower is attacked in any conflict inside Bangladesh, he added.
“But now how India will describe the killing of Swarna and Jayanta by its BSF members?” he raised the question.
Recalling the self-sacrifices of the youths in the anti-discrimination student movement, BNP senior leader Rizvi Ahmed said such glorious self-sacrifices will remain as a bright chapter in the Bangladesh’s history.
Remembering the martyred journalist Abu Taher Mohammad Turab, he said, “On 19 July, I was arrested from near the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka. Later, I got the news that a journalist was shot dead by the police while collecting news about BNP’s programmes in Sylhet.”
He said Turab is one of the martyrs in the struggle for democracy and this self-sacrifice cannot go in vain in coming days.
Rizvi Ahmed demanded repeal of Digital Security Act and Cyber Security Act.
He said that the current interim government should be more responsible to consolidate stability in the country as a vested quarter is trying to destabilize and destroy the country.
Making a call to hold elections quickly in the country, he said there is no alternative to elections to fulfill the expectations of the people.
