New Delhi: India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will visit Bangladesh on December 9 amid high tension in India-Bangladesh relations. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave this information to the media saying that Mr Misri will travel to Bangladesh to attend a meeting under the framework of Foreign Office Consultations.

He said that in Dhaka foreign secretary will hold a meeting with the Foreign Secretary of the Interim Government of Bangladesh and apart from this he will also hold many other meetings. These talks are an important part of India-Bangladesh diplomatic relations.

Foreign secretary’s visit is part of “structured interactions said MEA.

This is the first visit of a senior Indian official to Bangladesh after the overthrow of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5 and the formation of an interim government on August 8. Attacks on Hindus and their religious places have been increasing continuously in Bangladesh since the interim government came to power.

There are incidents of attacks, arson, looting and atrocities on Hindu women on Hindu houses, shops and temples. Meanwhile, the arrest of ISKCON‘s international spokesperson and saint Chinmay Krishna Das on treason charges and then his bail plea was cancelled by the court.

Due to all these incidents, Hindus living all over the world including India are worried and angry and they are demanding the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das. They are also demanding full security for Hindus in Bangladesh.

Today in a latest incident ISKCON Namhatta Centre was burned down in Bangladesh. The Deities of Sri Sri Laxmi Narayan and all items inside the temple, were burned down completely according to Spokesperson of Iskcon Radharamn Das in Kolkata.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visit also acquires special significance as the interim Government of Bangladesh has repeatedly expressed its disapproval over the stay of former PM Sheikh Hasina in India.
