DHAKA, June 21, 2025 (BSS) – Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said the interim government is working to break the cycle of corruption and set a competitive economy and personal example.
“The current budget is a budget of political vacuum, where all state institutions have been destroyed and looted at the same time,” he said.
Kabir, also adviser to ministries of road transport and bridges and railway, said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar and policy debate titled “Budget Debate: Context-Appendix” for the fiscal year 2025-26 at Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) auditorium in the city, said a press release.
The adviser highlighted some of the recent achievements, ongoing activities and future plans of the ministries under him, including the renovation of internal rivers, the closure of unplanned power generation plants and the expansion of solar power generation projects at the institutional and consumer levels.
Interim Committee of the Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) organised the seminar.
Convener of the Interim Committee of the Bangladesh Economic Association Professor Mahbub Ullah presided over the event.
Member Secretary of the same committee Professor Mohammad Helal Uddin moderated the event.
In the discussion session, renowned economists, professionals and policymakers of the country presented articles on nine aspects of the announced budget.
In the budget article, Executive Director of the Economic Research Group Sajjad Zahir emphasized the short and medium term sustainable development aspect of the announced budget.
He felt that there should be more transparency in the numbers of the Bangladesh government’s domestic and foreign borrowing to address the budget deficit.
Bangladesh Bank Research Director Md. Gulzar Nabi expressed strong optimism about the medium and long-term stability of the macroeconomics.
He highlighted the contribution of self-sufficiency in food production, remittance flow and the ready-made garment sector.
