During recent talks between officials from Ghana and Bangladesh, the two countries reaffirmed their strong commitment to expanding trade and economic ties. During President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s farewell visit to the Bangabhaban, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh, Ghana’s non-resident high commissioner to Bangladesh, brought attention to bilateral trade.

President Shahabuddin emphasised the value of continued collaboration in areas of shared interest while recognising the advancements made in bilateral ties during their discussion. He highlighted that stronger trade relations would be extremely advantageous for both nations.

The president emphasised the possibility for growth and development through improved commercial connections when he said, “Enhancing our economic cooperation is vital for both nations.”

In his remarks, Cheremeh also acknowledged the value of developing business relationships and thanked the Bangladeshi government for its assistance during his time there. He expressed hope for more cooperation that can lead to mutual economic gains.

Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain reaffirmed the significance of strengthening trade partnerships in a separate meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka. He underlined the necessity of completing outstanding cooperative agreements in order to open up more trade and investment opportunities.

Even the previous administration was positive in a trade cooperation with Ghana, particularly in the realms of leather, jute and textile trade. This partnership has been reaffirmed with the talks on expanding bilateral trade and economic ties.

Both parties ended their talks with a positive statement, reiterating their commitment to accelerating initiatives that would soon result in increased economic cooperation and reciprocal advantages.
