The agreement was signed on Sunday (3 August) in Dhaka by Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky and ADB Country Director Hoe Yun Jeong.
The funding supports the TVET Teachers for the Future Program, a results-based initiative that will expand modern teacher training—particularly in underserved regions outside the capital. The program aims to train at least 10,000 new and existing TVET teachers, ultimately benefiting over 250,000 students. It will also establish a nationwide system for continuous professional development, ensuring long-term quality and relevance in the TVET sector.
“Aligned with Bangladesh’s economic diversification priorities, the programme focuses on five key technology clusters: mechanical, electronics and electrical, ICT, civil, and food and agriculture,” said Hoe Yun Jeong. “It directly addresses job creation, social inclusion, and non-income dimensions of poverty, while supporting the government’s Integrated TVET Development Action Plan (ITDAP).”
The initiative will strengthen systems for teacher development, management, and reporting, and enhance educators’ technical and pedagogical skills in emerging technologies.
