BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said all of the country’s positive transformations have been brought about by the BNP.

“All positive changes in the country have come through the BNP. More changes will follow with the implementation of the party’s 31-point charter,” he said while inaugurating the biennial council of the Thakurgaon district BNP at Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School playground.

Outgoing general seceratary of the district BNP Mirza Faisal Amin presented the biennial report with senior vice president Valiant Freedom Fighter Abu Karim in the chair.

Highlighting BNP’s contributions, he said, “BNP introduced multi-party democracy after an era of one-party rule. It ensured media freedom and has now put forward a 31-point charter to rebuild the country’s political and economic structure, which has been destroyed under a fascist regime where all institutions have collapsed.”

Referring to the past 15 years, the BNP leader alleged that the Awami League has systematically dismantled democratic institutions.

“For the last 15 years, the fascist Awami League has brutally oppressed the people, destroyed democracy, undermined the economy, and stripped citizens of their fundamental rights,” he said.

He added BNP and other democratic parties have continued their resistance, despite widespread persecution.

“During this time, many BNP leaders and activists were forced to flee, while many others endured extreme torture. Still, our struggle has not stopped,” said Mirza Fakhrul.

Mirza Fakhrul praised the sacrifices made by party members in their fight for democracy, saying they have shed blood but never backed down.

He urged all BNP supporters and democratic forces to stay united under the leadership of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, to strengthen the movement for restoring democracy.
