DHAKA, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has stressed the
need to maintain a proper electoral environment in the country ahead of the
13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls.

The EC in a notification said the schedule for the 13th parliamentary
election and the national referendum was recently announced, under which
voting will be held on February 12, 2026.

According to Rule 18 of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and
Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2025, electioneering can be carried
out from three weeks prior to polling day until 48 hours before the start of
voting, subject to compliance with the prescribed conditions, an official
release said here today.

The EC said that national and international day observances, as well as
religious, social, and similar events, may be organised during this period
provided that the electoral environment is not disrupted and the provisions
of the Code of Conduct are strictly followed.

In such cases, prior consent or permission must be obtained from the
concerned Returning Officer.
