BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said all the crises the country is currently facing will be resolved once elections are held.

“We want early elections as it will strengthen us, establish a government and parliament, and resolve the ongoing crises,” he said at the Amar Bangladesh Party’s national council at Suhrawardy Udyan today (11 January).

Fakhrul clarified the party’s position, stating, “We support the interim government, but with the country’s fragile economic and political situation, we want both reforms and early elections.”

He reiterated BNP’s vision for a united national government post-election, aiming to address the country’s political challenges collaboratively.

“We have said that after the election, we want to form a united national government. We want to solve political problems together,” he noted, urging other parties to consider and contribute their perspectives.

The BNP leader further said they want to return to a democratic system, remove discrimination, and see a new Bangladesh by standing shoulder to shoulder with the youth of Bangladesh.

“Unfortunately, some of our own countrymen are trying to create cracks in this unity. I know that attempt will not succeed. I believe we will certainly be able to reach our goal collectively and in unity,” he said.
