The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has further lowered Bangladesh’s economic growth projection for fiscal year 2024-25 to 3.76 per cent from a previous estimation of 3.8 per cent made in December last.

The projection is significantly lower than a previous projection of 4.5 per cent, which the multilateral lender said in October last year.

The new data has been revealed in the World Economic Outlook 2025, which the IMF released on Tuesday in Washington at the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The WEO estimated that in FY26, Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth will be 6.53 per cent before tumbling to 5.78 per cent in FY27.
