DHAKA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) – Saudi Arabian Trade Minister Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi today underlined the need for formulating an import-export strategy for Bangladesh and the oil-rich nation to advance the economic ties between the two countries.

He made the suggestion when Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md. Delwar Hossain called on the minister in Riyadh today, according to a message received here this evening.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Qasabi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for Bangladesh, pledging his ministry’s assistance in addressing any economic or trade-related issues.

The minister urged the Bangladesh ambassador to liaise with the Saudi Business Council and prepare a comprehensive report on Bangladesh’s business challenges, opportunities, and demands.

He also guided the envoy to identify Saudi Arabia’s key importers and exporters, engage in detailed discussions with them, and assess both opportunities and obstacles to expanding bilateral trade.

The Saudi minister put special emphasis on the potential of the maritime and agricultural cooperation with Bangladesh.

The minister reiterated Saudi Arabia’s steadfast ties with Bangladesh, adding that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman holds deep respect for the South Asian nation.

Bangladesh ambassador reaffirmed Dhaka’s strong commitment to deepening economic and trade relations with Riyadh.

Ambassador Hossain handed over a copy of the recently published Saudi-Bangladesh Economic Mapping report by the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Saudi minister appreciated the initiative and assured that his ministry would conduct an in-depth analysis of the report.
