Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has urged Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to arrange a meeting with all political parties in Bangladesh to address the ongoing “national crisis”.
The call came during an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Council held today (22 May) at the party’s central office in Dhaka, reads a press statement.
During the meeting, the council held an in-depth discussion on the current situation of the country.
Earlier in the day, taking to Facebook, the Jamaat chief has called on all to avoid sensitive and controversial issues in the national interest.

He wrote, “Let’s all avoid sensitive and controversial issues in the national interest. A positive role in overcoming crises will only benefit the nation. A negative role never brings welfare.”
In another Facebook post made later in the afternoon, he called on all anti-fascist forces to take a farsighted and responsible role for the sake of the national interest
“I sincerely urge all anti-fascist forces to set aside pride, grievances, and resentment, and take a farsighted and responsible role in the national interest. Let each of us fulfil our responsibilities to the utmost from our respective positions,” he wrote.
The Jamaat chief’s remarks come amid increased political turmoil in the country over the election roadmap, the proposed Rakhine human corridor, demand for the resignation of several advisers.
