The National Citizen Party (NCP) has finalised its position on 30 parliamentary seats agreed with the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance ahead of the upcoming national election, keeping one seat open in the interest of broader alliance consensus.
Mahbub Alam, head of the NCP’s election media sub-committee, said the party has selected single candidates for 29 seats, while the Moulvibazar-4 constituency has been left undecided to accommodate the 10-party alliance.
He said candidates have been finalised for the remaining seats, with the party preparing to contest across northern, southern, central and hilly regions of the country.
Party sources said the NCP has nominated a mix of younger and familiar faces, particularly in Dhaka, alongside locally popular leaders at district and upazila levels.
The final candidate list includes constituencies in Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Kurigram, Natore, Sirajganj, Pirojpur, Tangail, Mymensingh and Munshiganj.
In Dhaka, the party has nominated Nasiruddin Patwari for Dhaka-8, covering the Motijheel, Ramna and Shahbagh areas, Javed Rasin for Dhaka-9, and Nahid Islam for Dhaka-11. Candidates have also been finalised for Dhaka-18, Dhaka-19 and Dhaka-20.
Outside the capital, the NCP has announced candidates for Gazipur-2, Narsingdi-2, Narayanganj-4, Brahmanbaria-2 and 3, Cumilla-4, Noakhali-2 and 6, Lakshmipur-1 and Chattogram-8.
In the hilly district of Bandarban, SM Suja Uddin will contest the election on behalf of the party in one constituency.
