The Secretariat of the Climate Justice Forum, hosted by An Organisation for Socio-Economic Development (AOSED), held the Pre-COP30 National Sharing and Planning Meeting to strengthen inclusive dialogue and strategic collaboration ahead of the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30).
The meeting, chaired by Professor Dr Hamidul Huq of United International University and moderated by Shamim Arfeen, Executive Director of AOSED, took place at Amazon Lily Lake View Residence in Banani.
In his presentation, Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal Poplu, President of Coastal Voice of Bangladesh, highlighted the urgency of a unified national approach to ensure justice for marginalised and climate-vulnerable communities. A key outcome was the formation of a National Climate Justice Forum to amplify Bangladesh’s collective voice at COP30.
Speakers stressed the importance of building consensus on advocacy priorities, strengthening national strategies, and ensuring grassroots participation in global climate negotiations.
Distinguished participants included Professor Dr Kazi Maruful Islam of Dhaka University, Rafiqul Islam Khokan of Rupantor, Rahima Sultana Kazal of AVAS, Roufa Khanam of BRAC University, Moumita Das Gupta of CCJ-B, Nurul Alam Masud of PRAAN, and several civil society leaders, academics, lawyers and development practitioners.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive, transparent, and equity-focused climate governance, pledging to ensure that the voices of the most affected communities are heard in national and international climate arenas.
