Presiding, assistant presiding officers won’t be able to play illicit roles in next election: Home adviser

Presiding officers or assistant presiding officers won’t be able to play any illicit roles in the upcoming elections, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said today (17 February).

Speaking at the annual sports event at Ichapura Government Model High School in Munshiganj, he also said the next election will be 100% impartial.

“No one will get any kind of advantage in this election,” he added.

The adviser also criticised politicians at the event for not respecting teachers. “Politicians don’t want to respect teachers. Politicians only run after them when elections come, and teachers are appointed as presiding officers…”

The adviser said the politicians seek illicit favours from those teachers during the elections.
