Thailand’s newly appointed Ambassador Thitiporn Chirasawadi said she is committed to enhancing economic and people-to-people ties with Bangladesh.
The ambassador said: “As the Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh, I am committed to enhancing economic cooperation that will bring tangible benefits to both our nations, while also strengthening people-to-people connections and mutual understanding. I look forward to continued friendship, goodwill, and collaboration with our Bangladeshi partners in this endeavor.”
She made these remarks in a message addressed to the people of Bangladesh after assuming her duties in Dhaka.
The ambassador said: “It is a great honor for me to return once again to South Asia. I have long felt a deep connection with this region. My first diplomatic posting here from 2000 to 2001 gave me an appreciation for the richness of South Asian cultures, the warmth of its people, and the shared values that bind our societies together. Today, I am honored to serve in Bangladesh—an emerging economy with a proud history, dynamic growth, and a strong national identity.”
She further stated that Bangladesh has long been a strategic country and is of growing importance to Thailand. “Geographically, our two nations are linked through the Bay of Bengal, connecting South and Southeast Asia and serving as a gateway to broader regional connectivity. Economically, Bangladesh has become one of Thailand’s key partners in South Asia, with bilateral trade steadily expanding in recent years,” she added.
“Culturally, both countries share deep-rooted values of community, hospitality, and resilience, which provide a strong foundation for deepening mutual understanding. As a member of BIMSTEC under Bangladesh’s chairmanship, we are committed to advancing connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development for the prosperity of our peoples,” the ambassador concluded.
