Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has urged Qatari businesses to relocate their factories to Bangladesh as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.

He made the call during a meeting with Qatari Ambassador Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday, according to a media statement from the Chief Advisor’s Office.

The chief advisor stressed the importance of deepening trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.

He encouraged Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s economic zones.

“Bangladesh is now ready for business. We want Qatari businessmen to explore opportunities here in Bangladesh,” Yunus said.

He also announced that Dhaka will host an investment summit in early April.

The Qatari ambassador welcomed the invitation and expressed hope that more business delegations from his country would visit Bangladesh soon.

Qatar fully supports the reform agenda of Bangladesh’s interim government, Ambassador Al-Qahtani told the chief advisor.

“Qatar is eager to provide all sorts of support to Bangladesh,” the envoy said.

Yunus praised Qatar’s backing and thanked the Qatari Emir for his support, calling Qatar a “close friend” of Bangladesh.

The chief advisor also briefed the ambassador on his government’s reform agenda and the work of the consensus commission in engaging with political parties.

He also revealed that he is scheduled to visit Qatar next month to attend an international conference.
