“Nur’s incident proves the reality that without an elected government, there is no accountability,” he says
Anyone attempting to destabilise the country through programmes aimed at disrupting the upcoming election will have to face political consequences, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said today (18 September), following his meeting with Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur.

The BNP leader visited Nur’s residence in the capital’s Hatirjheel area to inquire about his health, who was injured during the law enforcers’ action on 29 August.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Khasru said, “Nur’s incident proves the reality that without an elected government, there is no accountability. BNP wants stability in politics, but if anyone tries to create instability, they will have to pay politically.”
He also noted that while complete consensus may not be possible on all issues, it is essential to reach out to the people.
On 29 August night, a clash broke out between activists of Nur’s party and the Jatiyo Party in Kakrail. As tensions escalated, police and army personnel charged batons to bring the situation under control. Nur was injured during the law enforcers’ action.
