No space for old politics in new Bangladesh- Amir Khasru

DHAKA, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the era of old politics is over in the new Bangladesh.

“Public expectations in politics are changing, and people want to see BNP as an ideal party. The days of old politics are gone, and since the July uprising, there has been a significant shift in people’s psychological outlook,” he said.

He made the remark while addressing the prize-giving ceremony of the “Zia Swimming Carnival” organized by Dhaka North City BNP at Zia Udyan in the capital today.

Emphasizing the need for a change in political mindset, the senior BNP leader said, “We must embrace the new political transformation. People want to see BNP as an ideal party. If we fail to do that, we will not be able to build this country.”

He stressed that vision and foresightedness are essential in today’s politics. Stereotype politics will no longer work. The people, especially the youth folks must be inspired with new ideas.

Khosru also highlighted the importance of promoting sports, saying it should be developed to a new dimension.

“Alongside politics and the economy, sports too must be democratized so that everyone gets equal opportunity,” he noted.

Referring to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his family’s passion for sports, Khosru said, “Many have yet to realize the dream Tarique Rahman holds for the future of sports.

A decision has been taken to establish sports centers in every region of the country. Those centers will provide opportunities in cricket, football, swimming, and other games according to people’s talent and interest.”

He added that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, a big dream for the nation’s sporting sector will be fulfilled in the coming days, which will help build a positive global image of Bangladesh.

“For this, everyone’s cooperation is essential,” he said.

The event was chaired by BNP Sports Secretary and Dhaka North City BNP Convener Aminul Haque, while Member Secretary Mostafa Zaman conducted the programme.
