Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said that a major political party has become fearful after witnessing the surge of popular support for the 10-party alliance ahead of the upcoming national election.
He alleged that this party is spreading misleading information among the public and creating an atmosphere of fear.
He made these comments on Friday morning at a rally held prior to a mass procession in the Banshtala area of Bhatara in the capital, organized as part of the party’s election campaign.
Nahid Islam emphasized that extortionists and land grabbers must be resisted in the forthcoming election. He asserted that there would be no place for extortionists or land grabbers in the Dhaka-11 constituency.
The NCP Convener further warned those attempting to seize control of polling centers to abandon such ambitions. “We will guard every polling center. We will return home only after securing victory. We did not retreat even after facing gunfire, and we will not retreat from the polling centers either,” he said.
He added that the July uprising was not carried out to drive out one form of fascism only to restore another. “So many people sacrificed their lives to establish a Bangladesh based on justice,” he said.
He also noted that the Dhaka-11 constituency is plagued by numerous problems, including severe traffic congestion, extortion, and land grabbing. “After forming the government, we will free this area from these issues,” he said.
From the rally, he called upon citizens across the country to ensure the victory of the ten-party alliance’s candidates and to vote “Yes” in the referendum.
Leaders from various levels of the NCP and Jamaat-e-Islami also addressed the gathering. Following the rally, a mass procession began, heading toward Rampura.
