Seven Islamist parties today (31 August) proposed constitutional reforms limiting the tenure of a prime minister to a maximum of two terms.
They made the call during the dialogues with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at state guest house Jamuna this afternoon.
The leaders of Khelafat Majlish, Nizam-e-Islam, Hefazat-e-Islam, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Islami Andolon, Khelafat Andolon and Jamiat Ulama-e Islam held views exchange meeting with the chief adviser.

At the dialogue, the political parties called for the next election to be held within a reasonable timeframe.
The parties demanded the reform of the Election Commission to expedite the electoral process.
They also suggested the amendment of various controversial laws including the Special Powers Act and Digital Security Act.

Environment and Forest Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said they will continue the dialogue process with political parties and accept the reform proposals that emerge from these discussions.
Most parties demand timeframe for elections in talks with CA
During a series of meetings with the chief adviser, most political parties called for the interim government to conduct the national election within a reasonable timeframe, following the swift completion of necessary state reforms.

They also pledged full support to the government in overhauling the country’s electoral system, Election Commission, and state institutions, including the police, administration, and judiciary, to ensure a credible national election, restore democracy, and prevent autocracy and misrule.
In addition, each political party submitted written proposals outlining their demands and suggestions for state reforms during the meetings with the Chief Adviser. The parties’ top leaders later briefed the media on the outcomes of their discussions.

The Khelafat Majlish delegation was led by its Ameer Maulana Abdul Basit Azad. The delegation includes Dr Ahmad Abdul Quader, Maulana Sakhawat Hossain, Jahangir Hossain, and Muntasir Ali.
Maulana Yusuf Ashraf led Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis delegation with its members Maulana Mamunul Haque and Maulana Jalal Uddin.
Dr Kamal Hossain led Gonoforum. His delegation includes Mustafa Mohsin Montu, Subrat Chowdhury, SM Altaf Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Jaglul Hayder Afrik, Mohib Uddin Abdul Quader, and Mushtaq Ahmed.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) was led by Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed. His delegation will include Dr Redwan Ahmed, Neyamul Bashir, Nurul Alam Talukder, and Aurangzeb Belal.
Led by GM Quader, Jatiya Party delegation includes Anisul Islam Mahmud Chowdhury, Mojibur Rahman Chunnu, Mashroor Mawla, and Saifuddin Ahmed Milan.
NPP Chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad led the Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote. His delegation includes Khandkar Lutfar Rahman from Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa), ATM Golam Mawla Chowdhury of Gono Dal, Abu Taher of NDP, Shawon Sadeki of Bangladesh NAP, and Syed Nurul Islam of Samyabadi Dal.

The 12-Party Alliance was led by Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider. His delegation includes Syed Ehsanul Huda of Jatiya Dal, Shahadat Hossain Salim of BLDP, Mohiuddin Ikram of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam, Farooq Rahman of the Labor Party, Tasmia Pradhan of Jagpa, Shamsuddin Parvez of Kalyan Party, and Shah Ahmed Badal of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh.
