Korean envoy calls on foreign adviser

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2024 (BSS) – South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Park Young-sik today paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain here and discussed various issues of mutual interest.

The discussion covered wide range of issues including trade and investment, development cooperation, the ready-made garments sector, EPS workers, people-to-people exchange, and the Rohingya issue.

The envoy congratulated Adviser Hossain on his new role and expressed his intent to work closely with him to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Korea, said a foreign ministry’s press release here.

Touhid thanked the ROK government for its supportive stance toward Bangladesh’s interim government, affirming confidence in the government’s capacity to restore peace and stability.

He conveyed satisfaction with the upward trend in bilateral trade and acknowledged Korea’s role as a major foreign investor in Bangladesh.

Both the sides expressed their commitment to close cooperation in international arenas, working towards global peace and security, free trade and combating climate change impacts.

The foreign adviser expressed appreciation for Korea’s humanitarian support to the Rohingya people sheltered in Bangladesh, underscoring the importance of such assistance.
