Asif for increasing practice of Lalon’s philosophy

DHAKA, Oct 19, 2024 (BSS) – Law and Cultural Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Asif Nazrul today said that the practice and research of the philosophy of humanitarian based social reformer and great philosopher Lalon Shah should be increased in building a non-discrimination state and society irrespective of caste, religions and nation.

“The cooperation and initiatives of the government will be increased in nurturing the practice of Lalon in the culture of Bangladesh so that the state and society can  benefit more in the field of culture,” he added.

The adviser came up with the comments while addressing the concluding session of a three-day discussion titled ‘Dhoro Manush Rup Neharey’ as the chief guest marking the 134th death anniversary of Bengali philosopher and Baul Saint Lalon Shah at the main auditorium of Natyasala of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) this evening.

With BSA Director General Syed Jamil Ahmed in the chair, the event was addressed, among others, by Managing Director and Chief Editor of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mahbub Morshed.

Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul further said that before the July revolution, BSA excluded the main culture of Bangladesh and was engaged in praising specific persons to satisfy the ruling government.

“Now, the time has come for all of us to practice the politics and culture of Bangladesh regardless of castes and religions for the betterment of the state and the society,” he added.

At the outset of his speech, BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed paid deep respect to the martyrs-injured persons of the July revolution.

He said Lalon’s song inspired the people during the July revolution in a special way.

“Lalon was a humanitarian saint. He removed all kinds of ethnic differences including religion and caste and put humanity at the highest place,” said Mahbub Morshed, also a journalist and writer.

He mentioned that many world famous poets, writers and philosophers were influenced by Lalon’s songs and philosophy.

Urging all for giving more importance in practicing Lalon’s philosophy in the country, he said the philosophy of Lalon can bring welfare for the society as well as the state.
