The fight against bribe-takers, the corrupt and the extortionists is yet to end and will continue until justice prevails in the country, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Shafiqur Rahman said today (18 January).

“I’m humbly urging those who are still extorting and encroaching since 5 August to stop this practice. The souls of our martyrs will be hurt and our humanity will be insulted,” the ameer said while speaking as chief guest at an activists’ conference at the historical Madrasah compound in Rajshahi today (18 January).

The Jamaat ameer also urged people to refrain from taking bribes at offices and courts.

“Don’t hurt those who took to the streets and joined the movement with the intention to become martyrs. Those who will not pay heed to our request must remember that the war is yet to be over.

“Our war will continue until justice prevails in the country. Only the rule of the Quran can ensure justice.”

“This Quranic rule is for people of all religions, groups and castes the sole guarantee of dignity. Through the establishment of this Quranic rule, we want to build a humane country and a Bangladesh free from corruption and misrule.

“We want to build a humane Bangladesh by building that equality, that welfare state, a country of justice and fairness, free from discrimination, corruption, extortion, and bribery. Therefore, we have to continue this fight,” Shafiqur said.
