Bhutan’s ambassador pays a farewell call on foreign affairs adviser

Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh Rinchen Kuentsyl paid a farewell call on the Adviser for Foreign Affairs Md Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (12 February).

The Foreign Affairs adviser congratulated the ambassador of Bhutan on successful completion of his tenure in Bangladesh and appreciated his active role in advancing the bilateral relations between the two countries, reads a press release.

The Foreign Affairs adviser noted that Bangladesh and Bhutan enjoy excellent bilateral relations.

He also mentioned that Bhutan was the first country to recognise Bangladesh and Bhutan holds a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshi people.

Ambassador of Bhutan expressed his gratitude for the continuous support and cooperation he received from the Government of Bangladesh throughout his tenure in Dhaka. Ambassador Kuentsyl emphasised that Bangladesh is a steadfast partner of Bhutan in the region and expressed confidence that the collaboration will continue to strengthen in the future. 

The Foreign Affairs adviser emphasised that while cooperation has been strengthened over the years across various sectors, there is significant potential for further collaboration, particularly in the areas of power and trade.

For the greater benefit of the people of the region, the importance of having extensive regional cooperation through SAARC and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) was discussed.
