Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today (13 April) expressed hope that this year’s Pahela Baishakh celebration will remove divisions among the people.

“After the fall of the fascist from state power, this year’s Pahela Baishakh will be celebrated in a free atmosphere. Therefore, I believe, the festival will be filled with mutual greetings by removing divisions among the people,” he said in a message on the occasion of Bengali New Year.

Referring to the Bangla New Year as the embodiment of the entire Bangladeshis, Mirza Fakhrul said from the dawn of Baishakh, the festival fills people’s hearts like a haven of peace.

He extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the people.

The BNP secretary general said Bangla New Year is a bright and joyful festival of the national life.

There will be no animosity or conflict in the festival and everyone’s heart will be filled with vitality and abundance, he said, adding that this festival is also a symbol of solidarity.

He said new year means leaving behind all the failures and dilapidations of the past and building a beautiful, prosperous future with new enthusiasm.

“We have to overcome the impact of the various incidents and accidents of the past year and restore peace, comfort, health and coexistence. The new year creates the urge for ideal life – this education and advanced culture,” said Mirza Fakhrul.

“In history, the identity of Bangladeshis is found in their distinctive religion. In the realm of religion, folklore, politics, literature and culture, this distinctiveness is the specialty of the Bangladeshi psyche. At the heart of every festival is the union of all people, regardless of wealth or poverty, indirectly connecting the various communities and religious groups of a nation in various ways,” he said.

He wished happiness and peace of all the people of the country.
