A rickshaw puller named Yunus Hawlader drew significant attention at BNP’s Labour Day rally in Nayapaltan today (1 May) by appearing in a symbolic costume he called “Dhanmanab”.

The event, titled “Workers’ Rally”, was organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal. It began around 2pm. People from various professions participated in the rally throughout the day.

Yunus Hawlader, a resident of Dumki upazila under Patuakhali district and also publicity secretary of Shyamnagar Thana Sramik Dal, today covered his whole body with sheaf of paddy, election symbol of BNP.

Talking to BSS, Yunus Hawlader said that he wore the costume out of love for BNP.

“I have been involved in BNP politics for a long time. At one time, due to politics, I had to leave Dhaka. Even when I went to my village, locals did not let me live in peace,” he added.

He said he had to stay many nights in the paddy fields in fear of arrest. To manifest his love for BNP he came up in the rally wearing the costume made of paddy sheaf.
