A delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held a meeting with Matthew Bay, deputy counsellor for political and economic affairs of the United States Embassy in Dhaka, this afternoon (17 June).

The discussion, held at the US Embassy, focused on internal democratic practices within Jamaat-e-Islami, including leadership selection, organisational structure, decision-making transparency, and the party’s stance on the rights of women and minority communities.

Jamaat representatives also elaborated on the party’s role in the movement for democracy in Bangladesh and its position against terrorism and extremism.
