BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said, “We must take a vow that we will never allow fascist Sheikh Hasina to do politics in Bangladesh again. We will not bow to anyone. We will build a self-reliant nation with our own strength.”

He made the remarks on Sunday (August 3) at a rally organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in Shahbagh, Dhaka, marking one year since the July uprising.

Addressing the leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “A new sun has risen. This sun will illuminate all of us. It marks the beginning of a new horizon and inspires new dreams. A new opportunity has arrived before us—to rebuild our Bangladesh.”

He added, “Our student brothers have shed a lot of blood, endured immense torture, and been imprisoned time and again. I believe there is hardly any Chhatra Dal activist who hasn’t been to jail or suffered repression. Today is a day of both joy and sorrow. On this very day one year ago, we lost our brothers.”

Speaking about Sheikh Hasina, the BNP leader said, “In our neighbouring country, India, fascist Sheikh Hasina has taken shelter with her cohorts. From there, she is occasionally threatening to attack Bangladesh. Not only that, they are also trying to create unrest here. From today’s rally, we must take an oath that we will never allow fascist Sheikh Hasina to do politics in Bangladesh again. We will not bow down to anyone. We will build a self-reliant country with our own strength.”

During the event, Mirza Fakhrul also expressed optimism about the upcoming election in February. He hoped that BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, would return to Bangladesh, participate in the election, and emerge victorious.
