DHAKA, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) – Lutfey Siddiqi, Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy on International Affairs, visited the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Chattogram today.

The NSEZ is being implemented by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).

During the visit, Lutfey observed the progress in industrialization, infrastructure development, investment potentials, and progress in employment generation.

Speaking at a meeting organized on the occasion of his visit, Lutfey Siddiqi said that the development of the National Special Economic Zone is one of the most important initiatives of the government.

He further stated that to transform this zone into an investment-friendly hub, all government agencies must work together with sincerity and commitment.

Lutfey also emphasized that by attracting foreign investment, generating employments, and increasing exports, the National Special Economic Zone will further accelerate Bangladesh’s economic growth.

He added that the government is making every possible effort to ensure a modern and enabling environment for both the domestic and foreign investors, said a BEZA press release.

On this occasion, the concerned officials highlighted the progress of various ongoing projects and presented in detail the measures taken to improve the investment climate.

The meeting was attended, among others, by BEZA’s Executive Member (Planning & Development) Major General (retd) Md. Nazrul Islam, Project Director of the National Special Economic Zone Development Project Abdullah Al Mahmud Faruq as well as representatives of the local administration.

It may be mentioned that BEZA is working to establish this comprehensive industrial city at Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram district and Sonagazi upazila of Feni district.

The industrial city is located only 10 kilometers away from the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway and 65 kilometers from the commercial capital Chattogram.

This industrial city will be equipped with world-class facilities such as a power plant, seaport, central waste management/water treatment plant, residential area, commercial zone, university, and hospital.

Already, about 11 industrial enterprises have started production there while several others are under construction.
