For the first time, Singer Bangladesh has commenced exports from its home appliance plant located in the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone, marking a significant milestone for the country’s economic zones.

A ceremony was held today to celebrate the launch of this first export operation from the Bangladesh-Japan G2G based economic zone situated at Araihazar in Narayanganj.

Saleh Ahmed, additional secretary and executive member (investment promotion) of BEZA, Mustafizur Rahman, joint-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and MHM Fairoz, managing director and CEO of Singer Bangladesh participated in the event, among others, said a press release.

Notably, this first shipment of ‘Wire Harness’ is destined for the world-renowned home appliance brand Beko’s washing machine factory located in Ulmi, Romania.

This marks the opening of a broader export channel that will help strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global home appliance supply chain.

MHM Fairoz, managing director and CEO of Singer Bangladesh stated that their goal is to establish Bangladesh as a reliable hub for manufacturing industries on the global map.

He added that Singer remains committed to sustainable development, technology transfer, export diversification, and industrial excellence.

Saleh Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Beko Global for selecting Bangladesh as a key investment location in the global supply chain for home appliance components.

He noted that Bangladesh has traditionally lagged behind in the export of unconventional products, and this initiative would open new avenues.

He thanked the management team of the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone for being a part of this first export initiative, calling it a joyful day for the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) as well.

Saleh also expressed hope that this milestone will enhance investors’ confidence in the country.

Factory director Hakan Altınışık remarked that this is a significant achievement for both Singer and Bangladesh in terms of precision product manufacturing and export.

He noted that Singer is no longer limited to the domestic market but is now exporting specialized components like these to Europe and other regions, contributing to export diversification.

Built in just 18 months and commencing production only 8 months after its foundation stone was laid, the Singer Bangladesh Limited home appliance plant is an environmentally friendly factory constructed according to the LEED Gold Standard.

Excluding the Wire Harness project, the investment in the plant so far amounts to $78 million. In addition to Wire Harnesses, the factory is currently producing refrigerators, televisions, air conditioners, and washing machines.

According to company sources, there are plans to export products to five countries—Romania, Turkey, Slovakia, Poland, and Italy.

These products will primarily be supplied to 14 global factories within Beko’s production network. The company also revealed that by 2026, the facility is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs.
